Do We Still Like OVERALLS?

$

overalls-look (2)Hey, the farmers of the world called. They want their clothes back. Or at least credit for the rise of a trend, you know what I mean. Until that happens (let’s not hold our breath for it, though) we’re left with taking credit for all the ‘cool-hipster’ looks we’re putting together, courtesy of the OVERALLS, since 2013. That’s when the denim overalls had their 15 minutes of fame.  denim-overalls-look (2)I’d have honestly guessed we’ve had it by now with this look, as last year, every.single. blogger. was photographed in a pair of denim overalls looking cooler than cool. But… what do you say, what do you know? It ain’t over till it’s over. At least not according to the online media, pushing stories of this trend down our throats, cause really now, the overall amount of err… overall pics has drastically dropped. Yet… their cool vibes remain intact. denim-overalls-trend-2014 (5)denim-overalls-trend-20142014 Summer, and why the hell not autumn as well, bring us still a few overalls styles that are not too shabby. Actually they’re quite great. And while denim still rules, white overalls and leather styles are on the rise, and what’s even greater than this (I know, a bit too much greatness for a farmer’s look) is that designers & retailers have nipped and tucked this motherfucker trend a little bit. Well… I’m guessing it’s for a clearer conscience when they’re cashing in on our lust for fashion. leather-overalls-trendoveralls-trend (4)denim-overalls-trend-2014 (3)overalls-look (8)denim-overalls-lookSo how exactly are this year’s overalls different than last’s?

Through cuts & more fashion forward designs. Par example, if last year by overalls trend we meant those boyfriend oversized slouchy styles, today, more fitted cuts (think skinny jeans styles), alongside more edgy designs are rising in the overall crowd of overalls. Short styles remain IN, as do BF slouchy ones of all colors, not just denim, and styling them is pretty much been there done that: sneakers, heels, sandals, layers et all.

That’s the great thing about overalls: layering! Man… it’s the best style gimmick that comes with this trend, and in summer… bustier tops and crop tops are making the overalls look incredibly trendy. overalls-look (6)overalls-lookA new overalls style on the radar is the suit-denim (it’s just a name I made up), which looks like a freaking Cat-Woman suit: a bit more fitted and possible to wear sans nothing underneath.I have one of these, BUUUUT… I’ve never ONCE worn it in public. Not so much as even showed it to anyone. Just tried it on. Looked in the mirror. Decided it was too Cat-Woman meets 90s stripper/pole-dancer for me. Then took it off and spend the whole day trying to figure out why in the name of God did I buy it in the first place.

Still wondering.

Although, after seeing these 2 ladies rock the shit out of the Overalls-Suit, I’m just gonna go and give it anther try (the 198,674,534,385th time) and reconsider everything. ;) overalls-suit-styleZendaya seen strolling on the street after visiting Seventeen Magazine office building in New York CityApparently the style might be back in… so at least I’ll be gloating at myself while staring at the ‘suit’ in my closet, patting my own shoulder for the fantastic decision I once made courtesy of some low-self-esteem phase in my life. Fashion always, always saves the day. And a good decision then, may seem a bad one later, but will eventually turn out to be a fantastic spur of the then-moment. See the hotness of the looks above. Thank God I never threw or gave the overalls away. Ha!

Anyway… enough about me & my life choices. Why don’t we eye-ball the street stylers & their sartorial choices when wearing an OVERALL. denim-overalls-trend-2014 (2)denim-overalls-trend-2014 (4)leather-overallsleather-overalls-look (2)leather-overalls-lookoveralls-look (3)overalls-look (4)overalls-look (5)overalls-look-streetstyleoveralls-styleoveralls-trend (3)overalls-trendProcessed with VSCOcam with p5 presetshort-overalls-lookstreest-style-denim-overalls-trend-2014short-overalls-streetstylestreest-style-denim-overalls-trend-2014 (2)streest-style-denim-overalls-trend-2014 (3)streest-style-denim-overalls-trend-2014 (4)streetstyle8385-webstreet-style-denim-overalls-3street-style-overalls-lookwhite-overalls-lookAnd now… you tell me, YES or NO to this still-breathing trend – the OVERALLS?

Why Is Everyone Obsessed With Sneakers?

sneakers-for-summerUnless you’ve been living under a rock for the past year, you’re probably aware of everyone’s latest fashion craze: THE SNEAKERS! Why the obsession? Cause fashion today is about having fun, looking chic & sophisticated rather than too polished. Hence the sneakers’ ubiquity & everyone’s love affair with them. I too am guilty of the sartorial fad, so when I was gifted with  pair of New Balance Sneakers from SCORPION SHOES I was ecstatic. 24They’re an independent footwear retailer from Camden, London, and I can honestly say their collection of shoes, which are for both men AND women, are my kinda guilty pleasure. Boots, sneakers, espadrilles, loafers, slip-ons, slippers, oxfords and what not, they have them all! And it all gets better when you see their brands: Nike, Adidas, Converse, New Balance, Toms, Vans, G-Star, Superga, Fred Parry etc. A HEAVEN OF SHOES. Need I say more?

Today we’ll talk sneakers: Why we adore them so much lately & How to wear them in summer?

We’ve had it with uncomfortable shoes, and the moment designers gave us the athletic trend, we took it and said our thank you’s while up-ing our sporty game on a daily basis, not just when going to the gym. Today every single girl & woman with a penchant for fashion is rocking sneakers with just about anything from skirts to dresses, suit trousers, jeans, shorts and what not. BUUUUT not just any sneakers, that’s the trick: it’s the once-running shoes, in bright colors, or just a touch of neon or bright shade to them.

Bright sneakers became – for girls and boys alike – this summers #1 staple, and the #1 Shoe of 2014. They even work for… work you know, depending on your domain, but chances are if jeans are OK, so will a pair of sneakers be, with say… a black minimal dress or pant-suit. Weekends & casual strolls around town are more fun when you have the most comfy and colored shoes on. From quirky styles to minimal looks everything works.

How I wore mine: New Balance Sneakers from Scorpion Shoes. So as I’ve already confessed to, and professed my shoe crush for the New Balance Sneakers from Scorpion Shoes, needless to say I’ve basically slept in them. Well… no, but I might as well have, since I barely took them off. Worn them all day yesterday, when I got them, and today as well. Sans la nuit, doh. Aaaaand I’ve changed outfits like I have fashion ADD, which only led to one brilliant conclusion: they go with anything. Except maybe an evening gown. But that’s fine. For today’s post I’ve practiced what I’ve been preaching so far and worn mine with a white mesh top, a colored bustier bra underneath, a pair of simple classic black shorts, and some accessories for a touch of bold & edgy femininity. 37After a whole day in them, I have to tell you something: I’m in love.

With the way they feel, soooo comfy they literally make me wanna go for a run, with the way they make me feel, athletic, young, chic and sporty. And the best part is they’re not at all big and chunky on the feet. This I love, cause it only means they’ll go a looong way and easily blend into any kind of outfits, from feminine to more boyfriend inspired styles. The color is perfect: black for a more classy touch, and just the right amount of neon and color razzmatazz. Ah… :) 1136817Shop them here.

The prices are affordable, the quality is great, the shipping is fast, the team over in Camden Shops is fantastic, the shoes feel so comfortable and easy to walk in, and they’ve got a little something for everyone. I love how eclectic, cool & urban chic their styles are, how the shops reflect the whole canal cool vibe atmosphere, packed with fantastic music, amazing bars & street style. A definite must see: SCORPION SHOES (click).

Should We Bring SUSPENDERS Back?

suspenders-look (5)Girls and boys, hate all you want but, my impulse on this one is to scream a big NO, unless of course you’re a hot man, with a full beard, tats and fantastic style. Then… I might reconsider. Braces-suspenders-for-men-1men-in-bracesmen-suspenders-lookstreet-style-suspenders (6)Just saying you know.

Or, if you go less for the suspenders per se, and more for the harness look, as shown by designers a few years ago. versace-1990-harnessharnessMcQueen, Versace, Prabal, Alexander Wang all went S&M on us with their versions of suspenders: wrapped around naked or not-so-naked bodies, rocked at Fashion Weeks by the cool fearless kids, resembling porn scenes more, rather than street style. Harnesses stuck for a while, and they are a more cutting edge version of the trend, which I’ll take anytime, over the suspenders. Picture this: white tee, jeans or suit trousers AND a leather cool harness on top, resembling a corset meets leather suspender. ;) designer-harnessMicah Gianneli_Jesse Maricic photographer_Controle Creatif_SaxonYet a harness does not a suspender make, so why don’t we talk about the braces now, and leave the S&M attire for another post.

With my negative impulse on a leash I will try to see what the buzz IS, WAS or COULD BE with the suspenders for women, and urge you to share your thoughts on this once-geek-attire. In men’s case, I am for a big YES if the above conditions are met. Right. … Right!?

When last week two of my girl-friends bought suspenders I was like meh… ‘Nice, if you’re into that sort of thing.’, but then it hit me: do I really dislike them? And if so why? It was a trend once, should we bring it back though? Or is it still alive? Fuck! So many questions and an inborn inability to remain unbiased.

Yes, suspenders are great for girls. IF YOU’RE 5!!!

Or at least that’s what I thought until recently: elastic suspenders, plaid, big glasses – a guarantee for geek’ish looks that severely lack in style. But after seeing a few street style photos & fashion editorials of French boho chic drop dead gorgeous women in suspenders, the veil of ignorance has been lifted. Suspenders can look fucking amazing for women as well. girls-in-bracesHow? First of all, opt for leather styles, if Chanel suspenders (see Rihanna’s or Nicole Richie’s) do not float your boat. :) And second, to avoid looking like a hobo, wear them with high waisted fitted trousers, skinny jeans, 70s style wide-legged trouser suit, or skirts. Skirts & suits look best with suspenders. how-to-wear-suspenders (4)Nicole Richie seen leaving a building in New York Cityhow-to-wear-suspenders (3)rihanna-suspenderswomen-who-dress-like-men-suspendersBasically the thing is… if you love it wear it. I’m the least to say what looks great or not in terms of suspenders, buuuut if I’d wear them (with a gun held at my temple) I’d opt for high waisted skinny jeans or trousers, crop top, or tucked in shirt (the last option is for work).

And I’d make sure they’re not too tightly pulled up, so I don’t walk like an invisible force is pulling a wedgie on me.

Instead of listening to my bitching about suspenders, why don’t you just have a look at how some of the savviest sartorials are doing the geek’ish risque style & get some inspo from them. Girls & boys alike. beyonce-suspendersLatitude Festival - Southwoldhow-to-wear-suspendershow-to-wear-suspendersmen-in-suspendersmen-styles-suspendersstreet-style-suspenders (4)street-style-suspenders (5)street-style-suspendersstreet-style-suspenders-hobo-chic-stylesuspenders (2)suspenders (3)suspenders-bracessuspenders-look (4)suspenders-women-stylesuspenders-trend-2014suspenders-stylesuspenders-men-womensuspenders-look-trousers-teesuspenders-look-trendsuspenders-look-streetstylesuspenders-lookssuspenders-look-midi-skirtsuspenders-look-mensuspenders-look-jeans-graphic-teesuspenders-looksuspenders-look-chicEr I take back everything I said or thought. I actually kinda sorta like suspenders. ;)  OR if you wanna push the envelope on this style… wrap & cage yourself in a cool looking harness. Or not. harness (2)leg-suspendersWhat do you think : Do you wear suspenders? Would you wear them? And should we bring them back?

Why The MAXI Dress Became A Staple?

$

maxi-dress-look (20)Rewind a few years, say circa early 2000 and the absence of the day-time maxi dress will strike you. Unless there was an event to attend or some posh gathering, wearing a maxi dress was a safe ticket to a social eyebrow raising followed by a wtf. Or, maybe I was just absent from the world back then, and bared too little knowledge of what was in and out at that time. Which is fine I guess.

Who cares what was hip in the past or not (only the entire fashion world). We live in the now. ‘Carpe Diem the trends’ baby!

Whatever. maxi-dress-trend-2014So, back to the Maxi Dress as a staple. Don’t you think for the past 4 or 5 years, since the maxi made its fashion comeback, maxi dresses is all we talk about and resort to in summer? And even in winter and autumn for that matter.

Spring as well.

Hence my Eureka moment! maxis-looksIt seems to me only since last year the maxi dress was nipped and tucked a little bit and the rules of the ‘how-to-wear’ one have expanded to the point of to-hell-with-them-do’s-and-don’ts. What used to be a style & design rule for the maxis (flat shoes, floral prints, strapless, or classic soft A-lines) is only a tiny part of the maxi trend in 2014. Actually more and more designs resemble the 70′s boho chic styles that I absolutely adore.

Which actually makes me think we’ll be able to wear them in the cold season as well with brown long boots. Beautiful. maxi-dress-look (15)maxi-dress-look (9)Today maxi dresses are silky, chiffon made, cotton, jersey, fitted, loose, strapless, cami, long sleeved, short sleeved, cinged at the waist, oversized, A-lined. A billion styles I’m telling you, with basics like black or white making a huge comeback. And long sleeves kinda ruling the streets when temperatures are on our sides in summer. Read cooler. maxi-dress-look (3)maxi-dress-look (4)maxi-dress-look (10)Style shoes wise it all changed. For me at least. If a few years back I thought maxi dresses only looked fab with flat shoes, gladiator flat sandals and the likes, today I could rock this shit with any shoe. Aha. Even bloody sneakers, or wedges, or chunky massive sandals, which I used to hate when paired with a loooong dress. Now I think it looks so 70s New York sophisticated I’m blown away.

Now I love all the quirky looks and clashed styles I used to hate.

But I have fashion ADD, so… maxi-dress-look (13)maxi-dress-look (8)And to wrap this shit ASAP, cause the freaking weekend is coming and we need some maxi inspiration, I’ll just say this: Hallelujah for the maxi dress! Say your thank you’s and Amens and all of that, cause seriously the loooong day-time gown is a true blessing for all women. It’s the easiest gimmick to look chic, stay cool in summer’s heat, and cover up on those fat days we all have. For me these are reasons enough to make any item a staple. maxi-dress-look (5)Er besides, the versatility of a maxi is unquestionable and the styles and outfits, even layers you can make with one and play dress up are a blessing.

So without further ado let’s get our maxis on.

Honestly this pleading is more addressed to my present self obsessed skinny jeans and cami tops persona. Better get them maxis out and rocking this summer.

Well… if not, I’ll still have autumn and winter for them. See? My point exactly, on all the why’s and the love for this dress. maxi-dress-look (6)summer-look-maxi-dresssummer-look-maxi-dress (8)summer-look-maxi-dress (9)maxi-dress-look (2)maxi-dress-look (7)maxi-dress-look (11)maxi-dress-look (12)maxi-dress-look (14)maxi-dress-look (16)maxi-dress-look (18)maxi-dress-look (19)maxi-dress-lookmaxi-dress-stylesmaxi-dress-trend-2014 (2)maxi-dress-trend-2014street-style-maxi-dress (2)street-style-maxi-dress (3)street-style-maxi-dress (4)street-style-maxi-dress (5)street-style-maxi-dress (6)street-style-maxi-dress (7)street-style-maxi-dress (9)street-style-maxi-dress (10)street-style-maxi-dressstreet-style-maxi-dressstreet-style-maxi-dressstreet-style-maxi-dress-long-sleevessummer-look-maxi-dress (2)summer-look-maxi-dress (3)summer-look-maxi-dress (7)summer-look-maxi-resssummer-look-maxi-dress (5)summer-look-maxi-dress (4)summer-look-maxi-dress (6)Have a lovely weekend my lovelies! :) xoxo

All Sorts Of SHORTS

shorts-trend-summer-looks (2)Just the other day a woman asked me (a complete stranger practically. Yeah I see her everyday when I go grocery shopping, but that’s not the point) - ”Oh, honey, why you always in jeans, cutoffs or dresses? Why don’t you wear beautiful shorts?” WTF. What does that even mean? This coming from a woman who’s well over 40 draped in cheap rhinestones like an over-tinseled Christmas tree.

I replied nothing, just a fake smile that was literally throwing all the angry emojis as her. Mind texting & cursing. shorts-trend-summer-looks (7)And BTW, what the fuck is wrong with cutoffs anyway? shorts-trend-summer-looks (16)After the wave of uncontrollably crowded & angry emojis from my mind had calmed the fuck down, I got to thinking that in all her randomness & (probably) unwanted rudeness… well… she was kinda sorta right. Right? I mean, except for that day when I wore my New Balance sneakers with those black shorts, I can’t for the love of me think of another time in the past year maybe when I’ve worn simple shorts in summer. Like floral, patters, white, green, red, anything but denim or cutoff.

Is there something wrong with me? shorts-trend-summer-looks (4)shorts-trend-summer-looks (3)shorts-trend-summer-looks (5)Rewinding a little bit to say 5 years ago, I only wore shorts. Never cutoffs. Okay rarely cutoffs, but the point I’m trying to make to myself  here is that I’ve probably just used up all my shorts-outfit-mood, you know. It’s done for me. Unless it’s autumn or winter, then I love wearing them with knits and chunky ankle boots, summer shorts for me is been there done that shit. Gimme something new.

Having said that I do confess I like them on others of course, they’re a classic staple. What I don’t like is my fear of looking too summer-common: colored shorts, basic top, flat shoes. But that’s just my idiotic overly-been-there-done-that-shorts-thing talking. shorts-trend-summer-looks (6)When last month I wrote about bermuda shorts I thought the short shorts were out. ‘Haha’, laughed the shorts. ‘Never. We’re classic.’ Yes indeed. So I figured why beat them (for not good reason btw) when you can join them and see the trendy/hot/cool side of this never-dying trend.

Perfect for summer dates, days, nights, going out they go with anything from flats to sexy as fuck heels, with basic tops, crispy shirts, clutches bags and everything. So let’s have a look at some street stylers and get inspired. shorts-trend-summer-looks (8)shorts-trend-summer-looks (9)shorts-trend-summer-looks (10)shorts-trend-summer-looks (11)shorts-trend-summer-looks (12)shorts-trend-summer-looks (13)shorts-trend-summer-looks (14)shorts-trend-summer-looks (15)shorts-trend-summer-looksstreet-style-shorts (2)street-style-shorts (3)street-style-shorts (4)street-style-shorts (5)street-style-shorts (6)street-style-shorts (7)street-style-shortssummer-shorts-looks (2)summer-shorts-looks (6)summer-shorts-looks (4)summer-shorts-looks (3)summer-shorts-looks (5)Now excuse me, as I’ll go try on some crazy colored shorts. Stepping out of my comfort zone is today’s mantra. :) And now, your thoughts on shorts…

Have a great weekend! xoxo

Let’s Talk BODYSUITS!

$
0
0

Micah Gianneli_Best top Australian personal style fashion blog_RI was about to start off with a YAY! in regards to the BODYSUIT apparently making a comeback, and kicking crop tops right off their front seats with their On-Trend’iness. But then it hit me: (1) as silly as it may sound – aren’t bodysuits less forgiving than some crop tops for example, and ALL tops for that matter? They’re basically one-piece swimsuits for the streets. BTW, who’d even know you’re wearing one or the other?

Anyway. Moving on to (2) does the return of the early 90s, late 80s bodysuit imply the death of crop tops? bodysuit-trend (9)Well… trends are bound to come and go, so let’s not hold our breath on either one making it more than a few seasons. It’s about style. And how do we even agree on one item being hip or not? If the retails chains are shoving it down our throats, while we’re happily digesting? If celebs are sporting it (see Miley, KimK)? If bloggers are doing the look?

Today’s fashion is definitely more about style, so perhaps that’s why we’re bringing back tons of once-hip-items. We’re giving them a nip and tuck, thus testing and expanding our sartorial minds. That, and also we’ve never gotten to try some of them when they were in their glory. bodysuit-trend (4)

So… BODYSUITS ladies. Do we like them or not? Would we wear them or not?

When in the 90s, George Michael’s ‘Too Funky’ video featured that motorcycle bodysuit and the silver one – I thought those bodysuits were the funkiest and most beautiful things EVER, oozing something so irresistible & unattainable you just couldn’t take your eyes off them. bodysuit-trend (15)bodysuit-trend (11)bodysuit-trend (3)Since then it’s only been models and artists wearing them on runways, photo-shoots, concerts, shows. They stopped being mainstream until today, when more and more girls are seen wearing bodysuits with shorts or high waisted skirts, skinny jeans or boyfriends jeans. They look effortless, lean, clean, no keep-an-eye-on-your-tucked-in-top problems. bodysuit-trend (14)Also perfect for office hours BODYSUITS are great for the above reason. In short sleeves, long sleeves, turtle necks, paired with 70s style trousers and sharp blazers, they’re the subtle yet statement piece of you look. street-style-bodysuits (2)And then there are the evening styles: leather, lace, mesh, transparency, bare backs, cut-outs – you name it, paired with shorts or flirty skirts or sexy jeans, luxe track pants. The outfit’s your ticket to looking trendy and feeling comfy at the same time. bodysuit-trend (5)What’s great about these is that they come in infinite styles ad designs, and colors, and patterns for absolutely all tastes and occasions. Truth is they are a bit too fitted and maybe pretentious, but at the same time they’re pretty basic & subtle. Yet, being painted on our bodies basically, makes them rather unforgiving on that last cake.

So what should we do? Give up sweets? Work out more for the sake of a trend? Nah. Just put it on hold for those super confident days we all have sometimes, when we don’t give a shit about anything and rock the hell out of any look. Who cares if we’re not bodysuit ready? Seriously. Who is?

Perfection does not exist. And the mere idea of it is boring to death, so as I always say… if you love it, rock it! Here’s some bodysuit inspo and street style pics: bodysuits-stylebodysuit-trend (2)bodysuit-trend (6)bodysuit-trend (7)bodysuit-trend (8)bodysuit-trend (10)bodysuit-trend (12)bodysuit-trend (16)bodysuit-trend (17)bodysuit-trendstreet-style-bodysuits (3)street-style-bodysuits (4)street-style-bodysuits (5)street-style-bodysuits (7)street-style-bodysuits (8)street-style-bodysuitswomen-bodysuits-stylewomen-bodysuits-looksYour turn now: what do you think?

What Do You Think About The UGLY SHOES Trend?

$
0
0

chunky-shoes-trend-2014 (11)Why is it that we always want what we can’t have? And what we can’t have is always so much more enticing & appealing than the opposite? That’s me when it comes to the UGLY SHOES trend. Hell that’s even fashion and life in general, but today we focus on the trend that brought tourists’ ugly Teva sandals, velcro strapped shoes, pool-side-like-flip-flips, chunky soles and horrific unsexy shoes  from the underground of not-even-fashion to the freaking runways. tumblr_mk9cifenmn1s96mm7o1_500How in the name of God have we managed to go ballistic over the ugliest shoes in the history of fashion? How?

And more troubling then this, how the hell did they get a hold of me? I used to be the stiletto-heels-girl, the cool-white-tennis-shoes-type you know. From this… to shoes that make us look like giant ants walking on kilometers of sticks legs, struggling not to fall, cause otherwise we’d definitely break our necks from the height of some of these chunkers. From feminine to… utter ugliness. Adult jelly sandals. Birkenstocks. Foam-soled-humongous shoes. 2014-ugly-shoesAnd I, my friends simply love them.

The ugly shoes though grew on me in time and literally stuck with me after a shopping weekend when I gave them a try, only to later confess my new shoe-crush. To my friend’s total disgust. And to add more insult to injury I fell hard for those super HIGH chunky ugly shoes. The kind that add about 7 inches to my already 5’10 height, which basically makes them, in my case, a NO-NO. Unless of course I plan to be the skinny giant on a loose.

So this predicament just puts the exclamation point on this blog post’s opening aha-moment.

And what I’m left with are Birkenstocks, adult jelly sandals, Teva, velcro, anything not too high.

Whatever.

Thank God the world does not evolve around me though, and talking about the things you can’t have and wear is the closest you get to the actual trend-practicing. So let’s talk ugly shoes. chunky-ugly-shoes-trendHow do we wear them? Since they’re ugly as fuck (but likable in a very twisted way) I wouldn’t even bother with finding the right outfit. The whole point of these shoes is to not look pretty. Having said that, while the anything-rule goes fine here, I think they look best with more feminine attire with a slight edge, grunge, or glam to it, depending on your style. The key word is either basic or sophisticated.

A lot of birkenstocks, Velcro sandals, or chunky heels, in black or white, look great with a pair of jeans (either skinny or loose), a basic top (shirt, tank top, tee, cami), and a statement bag for example. chunky-shoes-trend-2014 (6)chunky-shoes-trend-2014 (10)On the other hand there’s the chic sophisticated ugly shoes look, where you just do it all: prints, mismatched patterns, bold lips, wild hair, big shades and maybe a more understated pair of trousers or skirt. It’s all about pushing the envelope, and the funkier it looks the better. chunky-shoes-trend-2014 (4)But why are so many girls head-over-heels with the ugly shoes? Do we really love them or is it just a fashion-brainwash-effect?

I got to thinking that all this ugly trend thing is just our way of saying we’re sick of overly sexy looks. It’s the ugly statement making a point of ‘listen, you don’t have to be uncomfortable to be fashionable. nor do you have to try so hard.’ A tip, let’s say, we’ve taken from the less-sartorial-preoccupied peers, read comfortable tourists who’d rather have fun than worry about their posh shoes.

And they do have a point. Up to a point. Cause we do strive a bit more to put together quirky looks with the ugly soles, than they do.

But just think about it: this whole trend is a middle finger to everything that stands in opposition. We’re ridding ourselves off of all that’s unnecessary and beautiful but uncomfortable. Or let’s just say we’re leaving the sexy uncomfy stilettos for rare occasions, when we do wanna make the hotness statement.

Let’s see more beautiful ugly shoes now. ;) celine-ss-14-chunky-shoes-trendchunky-shoes-trend-2014 (2)chunky-shoes-trend-2014 (3)chunky-shoes-trend-2014 (5)chunky-shoes-trend-2014 (7)chunky-shoes-trend-2014 (8)chunky-shoes-trend-2014 (9)chunky-shoes-trend-2014 (12)chunky-shoes-trend-2014 (13)chunky-shoes-trend-2014chunky-shoes-trend-2014schunky-shoes-trend-2014-streetstylegivenchy-ss-14-chunky-shoes-trendmarni-ss-14-chunky-shoes-trendprada-ss-14-chunky-shoesstreetstyle-ugly-shoesstreet-style-ugly-shoesstreet-style-ugly-shoes-looksugly-sandals-summer-trendugly-shoes-looksugly-shoes-trendugly-shoes-trend (3)ugly-shoes-trend (2)ugly-shoes-styleugly-shoes-stylesugly-shoes-outfitsUntil then, perhaps we’d just rather not bother one bit with what goes with what, and don the ugly shoes cause we simply can. Or maybe we’re just brainwashed, I don’t know. Or attention seekers, avid to be labeled as hipsters at any cost. What do you think?

P.S. For the record, I’d rather have a world of women in these ugly shoes than in those horrific stripper platform heeled pumps.

6 Looks To Do On Your Summer Holiday

summer-holiday-fashion (4)The best part of our summer holidays, apart from getting to the exotic destinations & the relaxing time in the sun, is definitely the fashion that comes with it. Getting ready, packing tons of summer clothes, outfits, bikinis, shoes, bags, beach towels… ah! Sure, the moment we get there – to wherever we’re gonna lounge for days and days in the sun – we end up wearing pretty much the same things, as we get in the holiday mood and basically can’t be bothered with cool outfits anymore. summer-holiday-fashion

summer-holiday-outfitsYet there are a few looks we HAVE to do when on holiday. Why? Well… because it’s the only place where we can actually wear some of the clothes, and why waste and regret a fashion opportunity, right?

1. BIKINIS (doh), but I mean have fun with it all and go wild and creative with mismatched bikinis in funky prints and colors, do the retro styles with the fitted high waisted bottoms, and why not (on the last days, when your sun-tanning is pretty much done) rock a one-piece swimsuitbeach-fashion-bikinisbikini-looks-summer-holidays (2)bikini-looks-summer-holidays (3)bikini-looks-summer-holidays (4)bikini-looks-summer-holidays (5)bikini-looks-summer-holidays (6)2. ACCESSORIES like hats, baseball caps, or head-wraps are a must on summer holidays. Slap a pair of shades to go with them to protect your pretty face, and also to nail that beach coolness. Round shades, cat eyes, mirror lenses, wayfarers, or funky as hell sunglasses shapes to Instagram – just pick your poison. beah-looks-fashion (9)summer-holiday-fashion (7)summer-holiday-fashionAlso have fun with thin jewelry, stack on colored bracelets and tons of rings, and give the body-jewelry look a try. Love these! beah-looks-fashion (3)beah-looks-fashion (6)beah-looks-fashion (7)summer-holiday-fashion (11)summer-holiday-fashion (12)bikini-look-body-jewelrybikini-looks-summer-holidays3. DRESSES are a MUST on your summer vacation for both the beach as for dinner out by the sea. From chiffon styles, to flirty ones to jersey dresses, long sleeved, thin straps, bare backs, lingerie/bikinis exposed, super short, maxis, printed, white, black, lace…you name it, it’ll be perfect. mini-dress-beach-looks (2)Processed with VSCOcam with s1 preset Processed with VSCOcam with f2 presetmini-dress-beach-looks (4)mini-dress-beach-looks (5)mini-dress-beach-looksmaxi-dress-beach-look (2)maxi-dress-beach-look (3)maxi-dress-beach-lookmaxi-skirt-beach-styleShoes wise – when it comes to summer holidays I’m all for flat shoes, flip-flops, gladiator sandals, espadrilles and maybe sneakers. Heels? Not so much, although I always pack a pair (okay 2 actually: classic pumps & stiletto strappy ones), cause I’d rather be safe than sorry. summer-holiday-fashion (8)summer-holiday-looks (4)Bag wise – a massive beach bag is a must have. A cross body bag for when you’re not at the beach but talking tours, walking, going out to eat, and maybe a clutch for evening. Just in case you know. summer-holiday-looks (3)summer-holiday-fashion (5)4. CUTOFFS, cause seriously, no summer holiday is ever complete without these. Fitted, loose, super short, or longer versions, high waisted, there are tons of styles you can pick from, OR you can just DIY a pair of old jeans that look fab on your bum. ;) beah-looks-fashion (8)Cutoffs save the days and the nights when on vacation, cause they go for the beach with or without tees or tank tops, but they also go for daytime when you’re out for walks paired with crop tops, bustiers, loose tank tops you tie the knot on… OR for evenings paired with more fancy tops and why not even heels and a clutch. This look is perfect as it’s effortless and balanced in a very cool and chic kinda way. beach-look-cutoffscutoffs-summer-style5. SHORTS you gotta wear, especially those super short ones in neon colors, bright shades, crazy prints, or those black and white lace styles. Where else are you gonna wear them if not here? summer-shorts-beach-looks (2)summer-shorts-beach-looks (3)summer-shorts-beach-looks6. ALL-DENIM. Okay, this is a personal favorite of mine, just because I love the look of an all denim outfit anytime, especially when on holiday. Whether you do the denim cutoffs & denim bustier, the denim cutoffs & denim shirt, the denim little dress, the denim overall – it’s your choice, but I’m telling you it’ll look amazing. I never go anywhere without my denim shirt, and always end up living in it. beach-look-all-denimsummer-holiday-style-all-denim (2)summer-holiday-style-all-denim (3)summer-holiday-style-all-denim (4)The most important thing though when on holiday is to have fun and let your personal style take over any stupid trend or fashion pas or faux pas. It’s about feeling free, feeling great and enjoying every moment of it all regardless of any sartorial do or don’t.

But just in case… here are more summer holiday pics for your inspiration. summer-style-looksbeah-looks-fashion (2)beah-looks-fashion (4)beah-looks-fashion (5)beah-looks-fashion (10)beah-looks-fashionsummer-holiday-fashion (2)summer-holiday-fashion (3)summer-holiday-fashion (9)summer-holiday-fashion (10)summer-holiday-looks (2)summer-holiday-looks (6)summer-holiday-looks (7)Hope you enjoyed this. The ’90’s BANDANAS: Should We Bring Them Back To 2014?

$

90s-style-bandanasWho could possibly forget those black, white, red, dark blue, sometimes even green little scarves with black-tattoo-resembling-motifs on them that we all used to wear back in the day, whether wrapped around our heads, in an attempt to channel either Axl Rose or Tupac, or wore them as the perfect pull-together-your-outfit-cool-accessory when wrapped around our wrists, necks, or tied on our school backpacks. BANDANAS!

They were the one thing I never EVER left the house without in the 90s. EVER. And when I  lost one in a taxi, I was devastated for weeks. street-style-bandana-headscarf (2)bandana-trend-90sbandana-trend-902Ah… the 90s! Still going hard these days, but you know what? I’m actually all PRO this bandana comeback, perhaps because of the reminiscing it causes me, or maybe cause it’s so harmless and fun, why not do it all over again? Especially in what’s left of summer.

For example: why not cover your head at the beach with a cool grungy slash ghetto style bandana? Or wrap one around your head on a bad hair day? Seriously, just like the head wraps and scraves and turbans – I see nothing wrong with this. Au contraire, for me it triggers great memories, youth, and a craving to just wear it all over again. On weekends. To the beach. Or wherever, but only on weekends, cause yeah…

Or everyday wrapped around my neck or posh bag? Yeah… that’d be possible. 2014-bandana-looksJust last week I was reading something about them (hence my idea for this post) and the way Cara Delevingne styled hers it hit me: yes we could bring these cool bandanas back. Right? For fun.

Okay, so you might argue – quite too accurately actually – how some things are better done once and at the right time, but there are just so many ways to wear a bandana even as a grown-up woman. Sure… the occasions are scarce to say the least, but those that allow us to push the style limits and give the watchers something worth their starring, should not be wasted.

The beach would definitely be a perfect opportunity to channel your inner 90s cool kid persona. A Saturday morning grabbing lunch with your friend. A weekend getaway, a music festival. A bad hair day! bandana-trend-90show-to-wear-bandanabandana-trend-2014 (5)How to wear one? Either wear it as a band tied around your head over your hair in a grungy-hipster style, OR tied underneath your hair, pulling it back from your face in a girly & cute way. This look is great with red lips. bandana-look (3)bandana-trend-2014 (6)Another great way to wear it, is retro style all the way, like those 50’s poster girls, cool housewives who had to keep their manes tamed but oh-so-sexy. Again it looks fab with perfect lined lips and a sassy attitude. bandana-look (2)street-style-bandana-headscarf (4)Then there’s the cover my head all-together, read Axl Rose bandana look, which is great for a dreaming-of-my-teenage-years moment. Why the hell not!

Or… on a daily basis the bandana can go around wrists, around necks, hanging from pockets, posh bags, like a cool colored accessory, you know.

5 DETAILS To Upgrade Boring Style Days

Summer-Street-Style-2014Boiling degrees, dirty slow wind, sweaty skin, burning sun, sticky clothes no matter how fresh you left the house. No. This is not a one of those film scenes. Just a regular hot summer day in a crowded city, where most of its citizens look like struggling people trying to make it through the desert in clothes, not outfits, not sartorial groundbreaking shit. Just plain clothes to cover us up, cause walking naked is still socially unacceptable.

Then there are those crazy girls and boys who look bloody great at 39 Celsius degrees, who don’t sweat, who love to play dress up in boiling or freezing weather. This post is not for them. Cause you know.. they’re not human.

tumblr_mlr82whyQB1ropwwwo1_500This post is for people like me, and maybe some of you, who struggle to shake off the dreadfulness of having to choose an outfit that will only stick to a sweaty skin and piss us off anyway, cause seriously some of us just throw the towel in in summer (or even winter when it’s too cold). Fashion, right then and there, is a whatever thought postponed for say… spring or autumn.

But I try you know. I try to make style promises in summer, but when a bathing suit for work sounds better than a shift dress par example, that second you just know style-defeat is upon you and while mumbling a fuck off you end up wearing something plain or basic. Which is fine. Nobody died from lack of razzmatazz. Right? Spring+2013+Models+YTPXmSM7EmTx

Still ladies, not all is lost, because as plain, simple, basic even ugly as we might dress one day, for whatever reasons, there is ONE style gimmick that will make all the difference in our entire fashion world. Drumrolls. The DETAILS.

They don’t say ‘The Devil lies in the details’ for nothing, because that’s where all the juicy style shtick is: some tiny little apparently-not-thought-through outfit thing. So… if style boredom is your state these days, don’t sweat it or try to shake it off, but rather make use of these 5 tips that will make us look as if we gave a shit and put some effort and thought into our looks.

1. RED LIPS. A splash of color can go a looooong way, especially when you’re only rocking a plain tee, a simple dress, jeans and a basic top. Nothing about your look is out of the ordinary, yet you look like a million bucks. Think model off duty, French girl in a rush. How? With bold lips baby.

red-lips-basic-outfits (4)red-lips-basic-outfits (5)red-lips-basic-outfitsred-lips-basic-outfitsred-lips-looks2. A WATCH. While I prefer the gold style watch, any other design is perfect. Watches are the classic understated style detail. There’s something so rich but simple about women who wear watches that I think this little thing may just make a lot of difference. And get you anywhere on time. detials-for-cool-outfitsoutfits-details-watchestrendy-outfits-details-watches (2)trendy-outfits-details-watches (3)trendy-outfits-details-watches (4)trendy-outfits-details-watches (5)trendy-outfits-details-watcheswatches-outfits

3. JEWELRY. Doh. From simple dainty pieces to statement ones, from one to a pile, they will always be the ultimate thing we resort to when we’re not feeling our outfits complete, or when we want to dress up a look. details-that-countjewelry-detials-in-outfitsjewelry-outfits (2)jewelry-outfits (3)jewelry-outfits (4)jewelry-outfits (5)jewelry-outfits (6)jewelry-outfitsstreet-style-jewelry-outfits (2)street-style-jewelry-outfits

4. NAILS. ‘A woman’s style and care for herself is betrayed by the details: nails, hair, skin.’ – my mom used to say, and you know what? I couldn’t agree more. I could go out in my PJs if I have impeccable nails (read bold stiletto style, cause I just love those). Well kept nails in statement or classic and simple designs and colors are that thing nobody notices but everyone does actually. When you shake hands, tuck your hair, sip your drink, pay for something, carry your bag… statement-nails-looksstatement-nails-looks (3)statement-nails-looks (2)street-style-nails-outfits

5. SUNGLASSES. In any season and almost any occasion a pair of classic black shades or one of these trendy funky pieces will work with any outfit making us look cool, rich, sophisticated, chic… depending on your style. funky-sunglassesstreet-style-details-sunglasses (2)street-style-details-sunglasses (3)street-style-details-sunglasses (4)street-style-details-sunglasses (5)street-style-details-sunglasses (6)street-style-details-sunglassesDuang Poshyanonda Photo © athens-streetstyle.com

So really then, why bother on trendy outfits, if we don’t feel like it, when we’ve got tiny details up our sleeves?

The Many Ways To Wear A ROMPER!

romper-trendThere are those trends you just hate. Those that are meh. Those you just wanna sit out. And those everyone loves, that come natural. These last ones are the best. :) And the ROMPER is definitely one of 2014 summer’s massive hit not in a ‘wtf’-kinda-way, but in a very doh, it’s so cute and summer’ish of course it’s the LOOK of the hot season kinda waystreet-style-rompers (8)The only bad thing about the jumpsuit’s little sister – the romper – is that it only works for the hot season, so with August still here, and praying September will be more like summer than autumn, why don’t we use the shit out of the romper while we can.

What I love about this trend is that although at first sight it might seem very niche like, it’s pretty versatile. Like a flirty dress basically, which it actually looks like. It’s all about the cuts, styles, designs, colors, patterns, fabrics, length (varieties of short, way above the knee). All these will make some rompers great for music festivals, others for the beach, others for going out in the evening, others for casual weekends. It all depends on the romper AND the shoes. street-style-rompers (21)So how do we wear them in a million ways while we still can? :)

Easy-peasy. The super short rompers with tiny little straps, bare backs, long plunging necklines, in flowy fabrics are PERFECT for the beach, or for any off-duty day in the city sun. Pair them with summer hats, flat gladiator sandals, even flip-flops, or why not a pair of ballet flats, sneakers, even cut-out boots for when you’re in the city. Big bags look great with this look. street-style-rompers (6)street-style-rompers (10)The floral rompers are a massive summer music festival look. Wear some flowers in your hair, summer boots (or high flat gladiator sandals), round sunnies, cross-body bag, tons of thin layered jewelry and off you go to say… Coachella? street-style-rompers (17)Then there are the posh versions of the romper for either evening, dancing, dinner out, dates, girls’ night out, that go great with heels of all sorts, like a dressed up version of the previous style romper. They look amazing in all-white or all-black, with golden accessories. rompers-summer-look (3)street-style-rompers (12)

Being such an ubiquitous summer look, of course there’s been a lot of reinvention, nipping, and tucking to the point of transforming a beach casual look into its opposite. Office wear! Like never. Doh. But it’s nice to simulate a more professional look for those ‘dayum’ days when we’re feeling so empowered. I’m talking structured rompers, with more classic cuts, resembling office suits. LOVE them. rompers-summer-look (6)rompers-summer-look (5)And last but not least there are the pretty 60’s inspired rompers with a slight dose of 70’s: super short, flirty, retro prints, long sleeves, plunging necklines, or wrap style. These look amazing with wedges and super high chunky 70’s style heels. street-style-rompers (3)And now more looks for inspo. rompers-summer-look (4)rompers-summer-look (2)rompers-summer-look (7)rompers-summer-look (8)CELEBSPIX.RUrompers-summer-lookrompers-trend (2)rompers-trend (2)rompers-trend (3)rompers-trend (4)rompers-trendrompers-trendstreet-style-rompers (2)street-style-rompers (4)street-style-rompers (5)street-style-rompers (7)street-style-rompers (9)street-style-rompers (11)street-style-rompers (13)street-style-rompers (14)street-style-rompers (15)street-style-rompers (16)street-style-rompers (18)street-style-rompers (19)street-style-rompersstreet-style-rompers (20)So what do you think about this simple & chic summer look?

Eyeglasses Trend For 2014 Fall

eyeglasses-street-style-15As a shortsighted woman who has to wear either glasses or contacts in order to have a better vision of life… and everything around me, I must confess that the rise of eyeglasses as a trend for the past years, is more than a blessing. I used to hate them so much back in the day, and now I’m choosing them over contacts as a great accessory to complete a certain look.

The whole eyeglasses-craze fashion is living and giving us these days comes with the benefit and guilty pleasure, but also necessity, of us constantly having to shop for new styles and designs. Cause… seriously you can never have too many pairs. Ever. blondesaladSo scouting for women’s prescription eyeglasses is a constant state of mind in my case, which only added to the excitement and satisfaction of it all once I stumbled upon Eyeglass Discount shop, because they’re packed with such fantastic designs that you literally just want to have a different pair for each day  and outfit.

Their shop offers a massive list of all that’s out there, with discount eyeglasses ranging from classic styles and shapes to more funky designs & bold shades. So finding the right shape for your face is a piece of cake. boston-green-54-angle_largeIMG_0001_largeIMG_0353_largeHow to find the right eyeglasses shape for your face? From my experience I found that those retro inspired shapes fit any face shape much better than any others, and to give your look more punch you should have fun with colors. Pick black for a classier (OK maybe slightly hipster) look, or go for red or brown shades according to your hair, skin tone and style. IMG_7369_largeIMG_8205_largepc102-dred-54-angle_largeEyeglasses TRENDS for 2014 fall. Retro wayfarer designs that look a bit heavy are still on a roll thank God, cause they are that style gimmick that just pull together any funky look making it appear more professional. Or, if you’re a fan of minimal style they’re the perfect one-statement piece. IMG_8722_largea_3x-verticaldagny-style-ambassador-glasses-main-600x400glasses_mg_9185lea-seydoux-model-actress-clear-lens-eyeglasses-magazine.2.striped shirt-leather jacket-faded denim- with zipper detail-jpgCat eyeglasses are making a massive comeback as well, with the 50’s and 60’s being on a rise in fashion. Or with the Mad Men series having us still sighing for those decades. Ah… Truth is cat eyeglasses have a certain cheeky femininity to them giving an outfit a more retro-professional vibe. They look fabulous with bold lips and nails. IMG_7864_largeIMG_7391_largepradacateye Trendy-Eyeglasses-and-Sunglasses-1Funky-writer’s-slash-artist’s-inspired-eyeglasses. Think Johnny Depp or some cool artist character in a Woody Allen film. They’re somewhere between round and wayfarer shapes, and look fabulous with hats & button down shirts, giving your look a more bohemian meets intellectual vibe. IMG_8548_2365b086-2095-4cd7-9da9-ce33cd9ab262_largeIMG_6228_largescott4292_0Round eyeglasses shapes are having their comeback too, and I adore them, but they’re a pretty tricky style which only looks good on certain people. If you love them definitely give them a try. LEFASHIONBLOGCHICFRAMESLOOKMATICIPADAIRGIVEAWAYACETATE3eyebuydirect-winter-2013-jullie-marie-agencia-team-7And then there are the classic shapes with thin metallic frames which are great for computer eyeglasses or why not… even everyday use if you’re into more minimal classy looks. IMG_8560_largeThat fashion has broaden its limits for the past 5 years is no news, but that eyeglasses have become a fashion statement is a massive surprise and a true gift to us all out there who need to wear them everyday.

August Style: Summer SWEATERS

$

sweatersWhenever the transitional pieces talk is due, as summer’s perks are coming to an end, we’re still clawed to the hot season’s fashion pieces in a desperate attempt to not let go yet. Three months is way to little to do it all. And yet we have to take tiny little steps into fall and slowly adapt to chiller nights & mornings. And jackets are overrated. Well maybe not, but we’re in weather denial so we’re faced with having to come up with a top to layer over the summer piece we still love to rock in crispy August days. street-style-summer-sweaters (7)What do we wear in August when we’re slightly cold?

Summer sweaters to me seem like the perfect alternative to the uber trendy and why not too-cold-season-I’m-not-ready-for-yet thicker jackets or vests. Yeah leather and denim are brilliant but there’s enough time to do them later on. So… let’s get down to more retro, bohemian, chic, sort-of-Parisian vibes sartorial choices.

The summer sweaters of 2014 are the perfect pick from August all throughout autumn. From tiny retro Audrey Hepburn inspired designs in your classic black & white or solid colors, that come down to the waist, cinged, with fitted sleeves and round necks, to more loose styles that cover our bums and sexily drip off our shoulders making us look as if we’re wearing nothing underneath, to cropped sweaters (think Liv Tyler in those Aerosmith 90s videos), to neon knits or mesh, or to those timeless navy stripe sweaters that look fabulous paired with tiny white shorts as if you’re some billionaire yachting in St. Tropez – all seem like a much better idea than jackets. sweaters-bare-legs-looks (6)street-style-summer-sweaters (6)summer-sweaters-trend (3)How do we wear sweaters in summer? I feel like the best thing to do is to not think your outfit through with a sweater in it, and just wear your choice of summer look for that day and casually pick any sweater you love and feel sexy or comfortable in to layer it over if you’re cold. This way you’re getting that effortless style, and you don’t even need to worry about this going with that because really… anything goes with everything today, even if it doesn’t. sweaters-bare-legs-looks (2)To avoid looking too autumn ready the tip is to do bare legs. So have a blast with shorts, with cutoffs, mini skirts, pleated skirts, midi skirts, maxi skirts, and even dresses which you can layer with a chic summer sweater that has an intricate design (exposed back, off the shoulders, deep plunging neckline) to still show off a bit of your dress. street-style-summer-sweaters (5)summer-sweaters-looks (4)sweaters-bare-legs-looksYou can have fun with shoes and still do the summer sandals, heels, OR you can slowly incorporate more fall appropriate styles: ankle boots or sneakersstreet-style-summer-sweaterstransitional-pieces-summer-autumn-sweatersSweaters ironically don’t look as heavy and bulked as jackets, nor as prepped up, are way more easy to throw in your bag for the just-in-case colder moments and look absolutely great paired with just about anything. Being way more affordable than jackets, you can buy and wear them like crazy. All the styles, all the cuts, all the colors.

My favorite ones for the traditional weather are bright colored styles in loose designs the kind that just look oversized, come in thin sexy fabrics & are a bit see through. And also those white fab sweaters! There’s just something so incredibly rich-casual and luxurious about these it’s irresistible. summer-sweaters-looksLet’s see more street style pics for inspiration. street-style-summer-sweaters (3)street-style-summer-sweaters (2)summer-style-sweaterssummer-sweaters-looks (2)summer-sweaters-looks (3)summer-sweaters-trend (2)summer-sweaters-trend (4)summer-sweaters-trendsweaters-bare-legs-looks (3)sweaters-bare-legs-looks (5)sweaters-bare-legs-looks (7)sweaters-for-summersweaters-trend-summer-lookstransitional-pieces-summer-autumn-sweaters (2)transitional-pieces-summer-autumn-sweaters (3)transitional-pieces-summer-autumn-sweaters (4)white-summer-sweatersWhat do you think about summer sweaters? poncho-look-2015-Fall-trends (2)In the short 2 weeks time I’ve been away living a bohemian gypsy lifestyle, barefooted & careless, apparently the posh ladies over in the big cities decided to transition to fall with one massive piece to keep them warm: the blanket. Or maybe they’re/we’re just too hung up on the laziness and coziness of our beds every single morning, so we instead decided to take it all with us. After all, not too long go pajamas were a thing. For daytime. Next thing you know, we’ll be wearing our duvets in winter, or why not have a carry-on pillow around our necks. Ha. I’ll take one in prints please.

Okay, so maybe I stretched this one a bit too much. Or maybe not. Did you see Burberry’s take on the PONCHO for 2014-2015 Fall/Winter? Literally a very luxurious, yet cozy, but utterly expensive (I’m betting well wroth it though) massive blanket, much like Louis Vuitton’s menswear giant scarf from a few seasons ago. Apparently it’s the IT thing of this fall. Interesting. poncho-look-2015-Fall-trends-BurberrySo, blankets, ponchos, capes, cloaks… tomato, tomato you know. The point is, any variety of the blanket-inspired-coats and overcoats are IN this season and really make a great no-fuss transitional piece.

Blankets – we all know.

Ponchos – are those overcoats with one hole to pull your head through, usually in a square or rectangular shape.

Capes – are the same as the ponchos except they have 2 extra holes for your arms. And are usually more tailored, or resemble very feminine retro circled oversized coats. Aaaand look absolutely fantastic with long gloves. poncho-cape-trend-fall-2014-2015 (4)poncho-cape-trend-fall-2014-2015 (9)I know this cape/poncho look is anything but new (it’s actually centuries old), but for me… it’s a trend that’s quite challenging in a sense that I’ve never quite cared about this look. Okay. Disliked it majorly. Reason? Well… I always felt it was way to bulky and slouchy and willowy and did nothing for me nor anyone else for that matter. I felt it channeled the old-lady-living-with-200-cats-smelling-like-expired-medicine look.

And really it never much does anything thermal wise. Yeah you’ve got your neck and shoulders covered, but seriously the rest of it is hanging out there letting the morning wind and chill in, you know. And the look of your hands or arms hanging from the 2 holes of a cape, I found so pretentious. You’re obviously cold so don a fucking coat. street-style-poncho (4)1NOW… scratch all that. And let’s all get over my erratic personality. The switch to liking the blanket-trend happened in 2 stages. (1) Last season when my friend Tina sported a very very very cute & trendy poncho or cape, rocking the very things I disliked about the look: arms out in blizzard cold, long gloves, not a coat, yet not a blanket. But you know what? It looked fabulous. It looked chic, feminine, very retro yet Fashion Week street style circa 2013. It looked effortless with jeans and flat pumps, but quite dressed up in very Gossip Girl kinda style. poncho-cape-trend-fall-2014-2015 (13)street-style-ponchoAnd stage (2) happened over this weekend when I saw – again – those ponchos from Burberry’s collection 2014 – 2015 Fall/Winter, both on the runway on Cara Delevingne as well as as on the streets worn by Olivia Palermo or Rosie HW. And… the outcome of putting (1) and (2) together basically translates right now to major crush. Well OK, I’m in love, and I shall not shy away from showing it this season. street-style-poncho-2015-fall-trend-Burberryponcho-trend-fall-2014-2015 (3)street-style-poncho-2015-fall-trend-Burberry (2)poncho-trend-fall-2014-2015 (2)Ponchos, cloaks, capes and blankets here I come.

About that silhouette paranoia I used to have: well… I still think the blanket-trend will make me look slouchy and willowy (when I’m in heels), borderline homeless when in flats, or a massive chicken wearing a blanket standing on a grill when I have my fat days, BUUUT there’s something very French-chic about this nonchalant style. (no, not about looking like an artificially enhanced chicken.) Not to mention liberating for lack of overly sexed up woman image. poncho-cape-trend-fall-2014-2015 (7)Let’s have a look at more street style pics… cape-outfit-2015-Fall-trends (2)cape-outfit-2015-Fall-trendsponcho-cape-trend-fall-2014-2015 (2)poncho-cape-trend-fall-2014-2015 (3)poncho-cape-trend-fall-2014-2015 (5)poncho-cape-trend-fall-2014-2015 (8)poncho-cape-trend-fall-2014-2015 (6)poncho-cape-trend-fall-2014-2015 (10)poncho-cape-trend-fall-2014-2015 (11)poncho-cape-trend-fall-2014-2015 (12)poncho-cape-trend-fall-2014-2015 (14)poncho-cape-trend-fall-2014-2015 (15)poncho-cape-trend-fall-2014-2015poncho-look-2015-Fall-trends (3)poncho-look-2015-Fall-trendsponcho-outfit-2015-Fall-trendsponcho-trend-fall-2014-2015 (4)poncho-trend-fall-2014-2015 (5)poncho-trend-fall-2014-2015street-style-poncho (2)street-style-poncho (3)street-style-poncho (5)street-style-poncho-2015-fall-trend (2)street-style-poncho-2015-fall-trend (3)street-style-poncho-2015-fall-trend (4)street-style-poncho-2015-fall-trend (5)street-style-poncho-2015-fall-trendIn case the cat-lady image is still haunting you remember it’s all about the expensive, luxurious details: rich-looking rings, bracelets, necklaces, watches, a pair of posh sunglasses, sexy shoes, or over-the-knee boots. Balance the knit, Aztec prints, bohemian, fuss-free, cozy style of the poncho with the exact opposite for an overall sophisticated style.

What do YOU think of the PONCHO look?

Is The Denim Skirt Really Passe?

2014-skirts-denim-90sHave you ever said something out loud with such conviction, that in the aftermath of the ‘brilliant’ affirmation, the people around you, and you included, had that wtf-should-I-laugh-now-or-act-surprised-or-just-ignore look on their faces? That’s the moment when you wish you’d just kept your mouth shut.

NO. I’m not gonna go all therapy on you right now. The issue in discussion is none other than the trend-worthiness of the DENIM SKIRT. No life and death drama.

Just fashion talk. street-style-denim-skirt (7)And so the story goes: last Saturday before going out for a drink, from my friend’s place where us girls met earlier for other drinks (okay and dinner too), my friend Julie wanted to borrow a pair of shorts or a skirt from our other friend, who, in a very genuine and now-I-realize-quite-well-deserved excitement, offered her a short denim skirt.

At which point I was like “NOOO! No way! You’re so not gonna wear that.” The aforementioned looks practically froze me to death, as I’ve realized I’ve spoken without much knowing. Typical, by the way.

”Why not?”, came their stupefied and dismissive at the same time question. To which I lingered in my above obliteration and replied in a tone which I totality resent and does not in any way characterize me, contrary to this blog’s main topics – ”Cause it’s so NOT-trendy.” No duh, thank God.

There they had it… the sartorial stupidity on duty had spoken. To which they said “Really?!”, and I felt obliged to find reasons as to why the denim skirt is no longer a trend-worthy piece to don.

And since no omelet was ever made without breaking a few eggs, I ended up feeling like an idiot, of course, BUUUT, forced to wonder on the matter in discussion, I got to thinking…

When did we stop wearing denim skirts? Are they really dead? And if so, do we want them back?

Hence today’s blogpost. denim-skirt (3)You see, as much as I ramble on and on, and on, and on, and then some more on the topic of trends, I’m probably the least to obey by them. For me, trends only trace a few guidelines and fashion inspiration if you will. The rest is just plain mood-swinging and having fun. So, that’s why my answer scared the shit out of me, as I refuse to become a fucking fashion victim. I sure don’t dress like one, but thinking like one, would be 10 times worse.

As it turns out though, my instinct (read big loud mouth) was not that far off. But that my friend does not mean we cannot wear the shit out of a denim skirt. As dated and passe as some (who me?) might find it, there are a few cuts and designs that look absolutely fabulous. denim-pencil-skirtdenim-skirt (2)The reason I jumped off the chair at the thought of a denim skirt, was because I was thinking of that 2000’s style. You know the one, right? We all used to wear it: mini, pretty low waisted, too fitted, paired with tight tank tops, and high heels. Oh Lord!

But, when I got to the research part of this post, I was literally blown away by both my ignorance as the infinite looks and styles a denim skirt comes with in 2014.

Pencil skirts, midi skirts, above the knee lengths, with side pockets, fitted or slightly loose, high waisted, ripped, dark denim, light denim, stone-washed denim. You name it, it looks gorgeous. What the denim skirt had gone through the past decade was a complete makeover, but nobody ever bothered to make a big deal out of it, and so the poor ugly ’00’s mini skirt remained a reference. denim-skirt-style-2000denim-pencil-skirt-lookToday the denim skirt has managed to keep its best assets – THE DENIM (hello!) – and mold and fold to the best skirt cuts and designs out there. And actually I’m pretty surprised that in all this 90s comeback the denim skirt was left out. Was it a big thing back then, or did it just rise to its infamous fame a decade later into that teen-Christina-Aguillera-Jessica-Simpson-look? denim-skirt-look-2000denim-skirt-styleI only own ONE denim skirt and it just happens to be the hideous type. To my defense, I’ve bought it sometime in the 2000’s when I was trying to channel wrong looks, wrong people, wrong styles. But so was everyone else. Unless you’re Kate Moss, then you probably let that one slide. Today though, I made a huge step, and entered 2 vintage shops on the prowl for denim skirts. Nice denim skirts. High waisted. Knee-length, or slightly above or below the knees, pencil cut… I did find a few but didn’t buy into them. Literally.

But this fall, I shall fall for 2 very specific skirts: one in denim and one in leather both pencil cut, high waist, side pockets if possible and don them with uber hot heels and a not so cool top. Just to let the skirts shine you know. :)

Anyway. Over to the street style gurus now. 2014-skirts-denim (3)2014-skirts-denimdenim-skirtstreet-style-denim-skirtstreet-style-denim-skirt (6)street-style-denim-skirt (4)street-style-denim-skirt (3)street-style-denim-skirt (2)mini-denim-skirt-look-2014mini-denim-skirt-2014light-denim-skirtleather-baseball-capIMG_8134edenim-skirt-trend-2014denim-skirt-style-90sdenim-skirt-style (6)denim-skirt-style (5)denim-skirt-style (4)denim-skirt-90s-lookdenim-skirt-lookdenim-skirt-miranda-kerrdenim-skirt-street-style-2014 (5)denim-skirt-style (3)denim-skirt-outfit-2014denim-skirt-street-style-2014 (2)denim-skirt-street-style-2014 (4)denim-skirt-style (2)And you know what? It’s probably got less to do with the skirt cut per se, and more with how we style it today. Which is much better. And anyway, things could have been worse. Remember the 80s denim skirt? 80s-denim-skirtYour turn now.

P.S. I’m all in the favor of the DENIM SKIRT, as I’ve already swallowed my pride, but will not, I repeat I will not, be in favor of the ’00’s mini denim skirt. Ever. Again. (hopefully)

Goodbye Pants, Hello Thigh High BOOTS!?

2014-fall-look-thigh-high-boots-trendHi there, nice to meet you.’ said the Thigh High Boots.
‘Hi, but oh, we’ve met before,‘ I said. ‘Only like around this time each year for the past 3 years or so. It’s fine though. Maybe your Alzheimer or just plain rudeness are clear signs we should definitely change our relationship. Like spice it up, you know.’
You mean make it more about me, and less about the others? In fact, this autumn I want it to be all about me. I hate those 2 idiots always coming between me and my fashion innuendo: Pants and Tights. Yeah. Drop those 2 idiots and I’ll give you a 2014 autumn to remember.
‘But us girls love Pants, and Tights, and leggy bottoms. What do you want us to walk around town in our knickers?’
‘Pretty much. Just think about it… .

Yes, when I’m off my medication I sometimes talk to clothes. But that’s not even the point here. The point is… The Thigh High Boots may actually be on to something. 2014-fall-look-thigh-high-bootsAbout this time last year I was rambling on about the over-the-knee-boots-trend, remember? And the year before that, I’m sure some other blogger was clicking on her camera taking photos of our main character in some outfit. And the year before that some woman wore them brilliantly on a night out. Not to mention, during all this time, designers have always given us some sort of design of this boot style: knee, over-the-knee, thigh-high.

So I’m thinking that repetitiveness and redundancy only lead to boredom which is really a buzz kill for anything, especially fashion. But how do we get to keep the old, and have the thrills of the new? ‘Impossible my dear Watson.’ Nuh-uh.

After going through some 2014 fall collections, and then some street style pics for inspiration, plus stumbling on Micah Gianneli & Christine Centenera‘s FABULOUS outfits wearing super thigh high boots, it hit me: THIS is exactly what we need in 2014 autumn. A very luxe, extremely sexy & beyond empowering look. Christine-Centenra-thigh-high-boots-trend-fall-2014thigh-high-boots-autumn-look-2014-christine0centenerahow-to-wear-thigh-high-boots-2014-autumn (5)Images by Jesse Maricic & Micah Gianneli | http://micahandjesse.comTHE LOOK…

And since black and leather and boots are all IN by default come the cold season – why don’t we make it all about them? And our legs. Forget pants/trousers, forget tights, forget long leggings and conformity for a second, and choose heeled boots, in black leather or suede, that go all the way up to your crotch. Well… leave a few bare inches for ventilation at least. 2014-fall-look-thigh-high-boots (3)thigh-high-boots-trend-fall-2014-street-style (2)And NO, you do not go out in your underwear, although who the hell am I to stop you. But while we’re on this topic, just imagine, how great and socially confusing it’d be if we could actually turn up somewhere in a pair of these boots, a black bodysuit with long sleeves and a long coat over. Ha! Errr, late night HBO called, they want their props back.

What I’m saying though is, let’s replace trousers and shoes with the one thing that’s got them both: THIGH HIGH BOOTS. Heeled ones to be more specific, sans platform please. The kind that make the legs look armpit long, as if painted in black leather or soft luxurious suede. how-to-wear-thigh-high-boots-2014-autumn (3)Look #1 The trouser-shoe will actually look fucking amazing paired with midi flowing skirts or dresses that have a slit on the side or in the middle, just enough to show some skin when you’re putting your left foot in front of your right. Or viceversa. thigh-high-boots-trend-fall-2014-streetstyleLook #2 THB (thigh high boots) also make a great outfit with mini skirts or dresses with a hem that ends right where the boot ends. Think shift dresses, or slightly loose skirts, not those overly fitted types. You’re not auditioning for Stoya’s role in some porn flick. And also, never, go for platform heeled THB, for the same reasons you know. Instead choose the ones that look like classic pumps or have a hidden small platform to them. Micah Gianneli_Best top personal style fashion blog_Rihanna RiriLook #3 Another gorgeous look of the THB is definitely the oversized knit sweater, or sweater dress. The heavy knit & leather combo is one of my favorites for fall,  the same as the silk or chiffon one + leather or suede. It’s contrasting. Luxurious. Rich & sophisticated. Love it. how-to-wear-thigh-high-boots-2014-autumn (7)So what you’ll eventually get by going bare-THB, is a leather leggings look with skirts, dresses, long shirts, long vests, long sweaters, long tops of all sorts. And the whole beauty of it is that you actually show no skin. Except for a few inches that will only show if you go for the mini or slit skirt, you’re all covered up. And that, for a woman can be more empowering and can look 10 times hotter than any summer showing skin outfit. Ironic isn’t it? But also the oldest trick in the book.

Girls, How About We Live In Our DENIM Shirts?

girls-denim-shirt-looksWhenever I’ve got a blogger’s block I usually just choose the easy way out, and think about what my friends and I are always, always, like all the time, wearing. Both us girls, as well the the hot men by our sides. Er you’re welcome boys. And this morning it hit me: THE DENIM SHIRT.

You’d think we were all auditioning for some cowboy part in a western flick every Friday or Saturday night, riding our horses to clubs, ‘sipping whiskey out the bottle not thinking bout tomorrow’, and spitting tobacco for intimidation, you know. denim-shirt-styles-autumn-looks (3)Most of us own at least one denim shirt and not rare are the times when at least 2 or 3 of us are wearing it at the same time, trying to act cool and focus more on the oh-wow-we’ve-got-great-style-part rather than, we look like freaking imagination-challenged-kids-in-uniforms-picked-out-by-someone-else-part.

Aaaaaanyway. Would’t change it for the world. :)  denim-shirt-office-looks (4)Actually I’d encourage those who don’t own a denim shirt by now to get one. Why? Well cause of the perks it comes with. You’ve got the western thing. The group thing. And the FASHION thing. Cause you know, the denim shirt is only the #1 staple since James Dean or so. Funny how denim anything is a staple, right? And I’m guessing it has to do with its versatility and effortlessness, how easy it translates to absolutely any look and style, remaining a trend or a ‘look’ if you will in any season of any decade.

It’s cool. It’s chic, if you want it to be. It’s bohemian, if you’re into that. It’s classy too. Not to mention sophisticated, and the best part about it is you can’t go wrong with it. No matter how you wear it or style it it’ll look amazing. Or at least effortlessly cool. de-1-CopyBasically it’s got so many superpowers that it’s no longer a shirt, but some magical shtick that just does it all for you.

For example if you want to look professional in a very casual chic sort of way, wear one to work, paired with classic trousers in black, dark blue, or white and heeled shoes, or oxfords. Same goes for skirts. Make sure you tuck it in, button it all the way up to the collar and why not wear a great necklace over it. For extra chicness you can cuff your sleeves. street-style-denim-shirt (3)denim-shirt-office-looks (2)denim-shirt-office-looks (5)Then, it can be a jacket, when it’s too warm for a jacket but too cold for a tee, so you just throw a denim shirt over whatever you’re wearing and leave it unbuttoned, or tie it in the front. denim-shirt-styles-autumn-looksstreet-style-denim-shirt (2)Then it can be the ticket to some incredibly cool sophisticated style, paired with sequined skirts, statement trousers, jeans for an all-denim-look and what not. denim-shirt-autumn-looks (3)how-to-wear-a-denim-shirt (10)tumblr_n1qb3ydiG81sffuyjo1_500It looks great with boots, flats, heels, sandals, even barefooteddenim-shirt-office-looks (3)denim-shirt-office-lookstumblr_n56sqd37c11rofpblo1_500Oh… not to mention it makes an amazing layering piece for super cold winter days, when you can wear it as a second thin jacket, left unbuttoned, OR, as a shirt (doh) underneath some soft pretty sweater with rolled up sleeves and round neck to show off the denim’s collar and sleeves. denim-shirt-styles-autumn-looks (2)how-to-wear-a-denim-shirt (4)And last but not least it’s the color and the designs it comes in. From super washed out, almost white hues to dark denim that looks very office appropriate. From fitted styles that mold to your body in a very classy way (these too are perfect pieces for work) to more relaxed cuts, slouchy, oversized, that allow infinite styles like the cuff or the half tuck. how-to-wear-a-denim-shirt (3)denim-shirt-styles-autumn-looks (4)It does go with anything, can be dressed up or down, compliments any skin tone, any haircut and style, and for me it’s the go to piece when I’m stuck in a pile of clothes with nothing to wear.

The best way to make it look sexy and chic is to wear it with bold lips. Instagram moment.

Oh wait…

But we’ll talk about them boys and their denim shirts tomorrow. ;)

office-look-bags (7)Oh, not too much, but what it is, better be real, you know. Let’s not get all feisty and life preaching here though. Not the time. Not the place. Not the mood, and frankly not the point. Well maybe a little bit sometimes. And since no question mark is pending on us let’s talk fashion, the obvious point of le conversation today.

When it comes to fashion assuming girls want it all, and need it all is a pretty fair assumption. Hell, quite understated if you think about women’s 2 major obsessions: shoes and BAGS! So yeah you guessed it, girls love – among other things – BAGS. From tiny pretty delicate ones, to massive styles, to totes, messenger bags, clutches, designer’s, retail’s, vintage, classic, funky – we honestly can never have too many. office-look-bags (6)bags-for-office-autumn-trend (3)The thing about BAGS is plain and simple: they’re that one accessory we can have so much fun with, to the point of going over the top, even when going over the top is not a comfortable step for us. You know? A bag can very well set a style mood for your outfit, or be the monotony-breaker of a simple/plain/boring look. I mean it’s not like we wake up everyday in Carrie Bradshaw’s closet with an unquenchable thirst to play dress-up for 2 hours before work. At 7 a.m. Actually we’re all guilty of je m’en fiche office outfits, or can’t be bothered moods that basically translate to a pair of black trousers and a white shirt. Or an all black outfit.

And that’s fine. Really.

But is there something we can do to… mix business with pleasure. To not fret at what to wear today (while wearing thew same go-to-meh-outfits) YET pull a massive trick from our hats and actually appear like we’re Miranda fucking Ker on her way to… a Victoria Secret meeting. bags-for-office (3)street-style-bags (4)How can we dress simple and I-don’t-care-what-I-wear-to-work-today but look like we’re the poster girls for The Sophisticated Professional Woman?

Well… it may be easier than we thought. Just think about that one thing we’re always wearing. All. The. Time.,  and would never go anywhere without. Especially to work. Nooo. Not your undies. Your BAG.

Bags to women are like pockets to men. We have a world in there, since the beginning of time. We can barely find anything in it, but that’s hardly the point. Our office bags are our best friends. They go with us from 9 – 5, they carry all our shit, and the bigger they are the better. autumn-trend-bags (5)autumn-trend-bags (2)So when it comes to OFFICE BAGS, what’s your favorite style?

I for one – not that anybody cares, but anyway – am very particular about bags. Like I know what I like, I know precisely what I want, and will not even consider reconsidering. That’s a good thing. And a bad one as well.

In my world, bags have to be structured. Having said that I love all bags – tiny, normal, massive, designer or not – as long as they’re structured & look expensive. autumn-trend-bags (4)For office – since it’s today’s topic – I adore massive bags in basic classic colors, with few gold details to them, that can be carried by the handles, or over the shoulder. For boring outfit days, massive office bags in bright colors, with expensive details, or funky prints can really be a ticket to great effortless style. Office Looks: Black Trousers Don’t Have To Be Boring

street-style-black-pants-office-style (9)It’s 8.45 am.  You’re running late to work. You’re still home. You start panicking. Buried under a pile of clothes, butt naked, without the slightest idea as to what to wear to work today. Sound familiar? What to do? What to wear? Shit. Shit. Shit.

In a complete mental distress you end up picking the same pair of trousers as you did on Monday, and off you go. Usually it’s a pair of BLACK TROUSERS. street-style-black-pants-office-style (8)You know, putting together outfits for work (if you’re into that) is much like going to the gym. You never do it, yet every day you promise yourself tomorrow’s the day. But it never is. It all sounds so much easier in your head. So I was just thinking today, that instead of fighting our demons, we’d better just dance with them, right?

However fashion prepared we are, when it comes to office style the #1 staple that comes to mind will always be a pair of black trousers. If that’s a good thing or not, is not even the question. They’re boring as fuck, that’s the problem. Yet their apparent boredom does not make them less of a staple, nor does it stray us from choosing them both on desperate occasions as well as willingly when they DO make the perfect office look. So instead of just coming up with office looks for autumn that involve prints, funky patterns, and all-white suits (whatever?), or god knows what new trend and style gimmick, I thought, why don’t we just get real, and talk about the most basic office clothing item ever.street-style-black-pants-office-styleOf course we rock all the trends, and we wear chic and sophisticated styles to work, but sometimes we couldn’t care less. This post is for those girls, in those moments…

How to wear black pants to work and not look boring?

  • quality fabric is one of the most important things. Black can look worn out, so an expensive looking fabric will give the trousers a posh vibe
  • high waist pants. It’s office ladies. The 2000’s are gone.
  • perfectly fitted but NOT painted on. Seriously?! Again office, not a club.
  • side pockets. A total MUST. They look super sophisticated and just make us seem less awkward and more importante when we keep our hands in them. ;)
  • high heels/classic pumps. Well, not always of course, but sometimes just leave it to high heels to literally style elevate any look.
  • top wise: simple tee + posh jewelry + big bag + blazer = chic and sophisticated; black sweater + oxfords/heels + trench coat = very French; silky blouse/shirt + delicate or expensive looking jewelry + posh bag + classic heeled pumps = classic rich professional look.

office-looks-black-pants (5)office-looks-black-trousers (4)office-looks-black-trousersTIP: when going classic and simple, it’s all about the details. For example a pair of great shoes, a great bag, a watch, just the right jewelry, red lips, perfect manicured nails, a messy bun, or ponytail – might just be enough to make a pair of black pants incredibly fabulous. o matter how old the look, not matter how many times you’ve worn them.

You’re safe to wear them at least 2 times a week: 1 time in an all black outfit, and 1 time in a black and white look. Both simple, classic and office appropriate.

The JACKETS Battle: Denim VS Leather

leather-denim-jacketsYeah, yeah, yeah. Autumn’s here, and were it not for all the websites and online mags preaching the arrival of fall with its sweater weather and ankle boots, I swear I would have still been in my bikinis oblivious of the rain and cooler temperatures.

Right. So, since living in another season is not optional I too have decided to join in on the world wide web and, drumrolls please… talk about autumn and its looks, and fads, and trends and whatnot.

One thing we change about our style habits come autumn is wearing a jacket. That’s to say we can still stretch some summer’ish outfits into fall, but for evening or crispy mornings we – most likely – will need a jacket. And when it comes to these, the last few years in fashion seem to have been all about the redundant leather jacket, and for 2 years now, the denim too is making a comeback. street-style-summer-denim-jackets (3)summer-leather-jackets-style (3)Two jackets styles we never discussed and I’m sure all of you probably own at least one of them and are lusting over for more. And then more. Leather & Denim Jackets may be quite similar: usually short, they go with everything, perfect transitional pieces, perfect for layers, for any style bla, bla, bla. YET the 2 looks they translate to are quite different for the trained eye, so I was wondering if you guys had to choose a favorite between these 2 which would it be: DENIM or LEATHER? denim-or-leather-jackets-foAlthough I practically live in my leather jacket, I will admit I hate the fact that it became more than a staple, it became a ubiquitous bitch, that’s all over the place, regardless of personal style. So, while leather is my first and only true love, I am considering a denim affair for this autumn. For variety reasons you know.

Leather can translate to more chic and smart looks, to a bit more professional in that sophisticated editor kinda way. It’s sleeker somehow. Whereas denim is a bit more sporty and casual, but with the right outfit it can definitely look cooler. summer-leather-jackets-stylestreet-style-summer-denim-jackets (5)I have a theory about denim: that due to its colors  (which come in a trillion hues, so there’s that as well) it really really compliments any skin tone making us look more fresh. And of course, denim goes with anything. But so does leather so… at the end of the day it’s really a matter of taste and mood.

Let’s have a look at each of these and then we can make a decision. Or not.
